Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

I know Christmas is done with but I did not get a chance to blog before it was here. I thought I would mix the two together in one post. I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays with family and friends. I always enjoy getting together during the holidays and visit with people we dont see very often during the year because everyone is so busy or they live out of town.

I kept forgetting to take pictures of my Christmas cards that I made but I did remember to take one of my favorite that I did. I just bought some embossing folders online during the 12 days of Christmas sales and they came the Friday before Christmas. This one I gave to my good scrappin friend. I knew she would like it.

I embossed this design on glittered cardstock with a Darice embossing folder. I colored the ornaments, stars and snowflakes with stickles. I added the clear Christmas Wishes stickers and chipboard silver star in the middle.

Here are some family Christmas photos that I took.

I took a photo of my daughter by her stocking to show off her baby bump for Christmas. She is due in May . The next photo is of my son, daughter, my dad & me.

These are the Christmas stockings that my step mom made for everyone. She had made some when my son was a baby but needed to update and she is keeping these for at their house.

Now I want to share some of my special projects from throughout the year.

                                               Valentine's Day Card

                                                 Springtime Canvas

My Prima cards for the Hobby Lobby Manager

Stickers that I made with my cricut, stickles & Xyron

The first Prima project at the Hobby Lobby demos

I cant wait to see what the New Year brings with more of the Prima Demos at Hobby Lobby, baby shower coming in March and the grand baby in May. It should be an eventful year! I hope you have a Great & Happy New Year as well.

The Final Challenge

I am sorry to inform everyone but Child's Play Challenges will be hosting its last challenge not only for the year but for good. Peoples lives just get too hectic sometimes and it is a lot of work to keep a challenge blog going. I am grateful to Devra for giving me the opportunity to create for Child's Play Challenges. I had a lot of fun doing it!

For the last challenge at Child's Play is inspired by the toy Lite-Brite. I used to have one when I was a kid and remember how much fun it was to play with. Unfortunately I did not have any pictures with it so the best thing I could come up with was a photo of my outside Christmas decorations. This layout was also done in my December Daily album.

I used Teresa Collins Christmas kit along with some of Margie Romney-Aslett's elements from her Christmas kit as well. I used stickles on the chipboard stars, added the green border sticker on the journaling card that is used as a mat and cut out the title and definition of Christmas Tree from Teresa's paper pad.

Supplies

Teresa Collins Noel 6x6 paper pad and Christmas Home chipboard tree
Bazzill Journaling Card and chipboard stars
Champagne, Holly, Diamond and Cranberry Stickles

I hope you can join us for our last challenge and get some great inspiration from Lite-Brite.

Christmas Prima Demo

On Saturday, December 6th I will be doing Prima make n takes at the Hobby Lobby in Rochester, MN from 11am-2pm. This time round we are making Christmas ornaments but with the same Mechanicals that we used last month for the Purse Fob. Here is the sample ornament that I made.

I made this with the biggest mechanical piece that you get in the package. There are 4 different sizes and you can use them on any project that you like or can think of. The smaller pieces you can use on a card or tag. I also used paper on the inside of the ornament from The Stationer's Desk 6x6 paper pad which I cut with my 2"scallop punch, trimmed it to size and glued it down. The flowers are from the Wild Flower Pillar Pack and the bling are the Branch Brown Say It In Crystals. I cut out the holly leaves on my cricut and inked them with the Moss Lawn Chalk Edger ink.

Other projects you can use the Mechanicals on are things like a lapel pin, a card or tag, a canvas project or layout. You can even paint some kind of medium like gesso on it and color it with an ink or any kind.

I hope I have given you some ideas for a project or christmas gift.

Winter Inspiration

Just getting over with Thanksgiving and the biggest shopping day of the year, everyone is in the holiday spirit. For the 1st challenge of December at Child's Play Challenges comes from the movie The Polar Express. I have not seen the movie myself but the train is inspiration enough.

During the month of December there is a Holiday Train that travels all over the place. Our town is one of its stops. We have a canned goods donation drive at our small train depot and they offer free hot chocolate while we listen to the band play that travels with the train. I have only gone 1 time so I could get some pictures of the train all lit up. I decided to do a December Daily mini album and I put the photos in there.

This mini album was a kit from Teresa Collins that I got at Scrapfest a couple years back.

I hope this challenge can get everyone in the Holiday spirit to scrap some special memories.

Hot Wheels

Can you get any more boy inspired than a Hot Wheels challenge? Our 2nd challenge for the month of November at Child's Play Challenges has to do with a boy's favorite toy, Hot Wheels.

I knew right away what I was going to create with this challenge. My son used to go kart race when he was younger. When he first started he would just let loose and give it his all. By doing that, he would spin out a lot but it was fun to watch him. One time he got high on a corner and went off the track but he didnt give up. He kept the kart going and just drove through the grass and up onto the track again. We teased him a little because when he did that he caught a little bit of air like the Dukes of Hazzard boys.

The layout that I created was of my son's first win at go kart racing. He got to do a victory lap and got his picture taken with his trophy.

I inked my letters to match the colors of my son's go kart. His race colors were black & red until he changed go karts. His second kart was silver with red & black. I made the trophy on my cricut and used some stickles to make it shine.

Supplies

Karen Foster Designs and Basic Grey Papers
American Crafts Foam Thickers
Jolee's Boutique Dimensional  and Spongebob Stickers
Everyday Paper Dolls Cricut Cartridge
Champagne Stickles
Faber-Castell Red Gelatos
Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Marker

I hope you have some boys in your life to inspire you and you can join us for this challenge.

Crossover Challenge

The 1st challenge for November is a joint challenge from 2 different challenge blogs.  Child's Play Challenges and Pixels and Paper Challenges have a photo and a recipe to inspire our layouts.

                                                     The recipe is:
                                                           gold
animal
use something that is older than a year
3 patterned papers
bling

Here is my layout inspired by the Christmas picture and the recipe.

I used gold gelatos to paint the hearts and champagne stickles on the dog bones, paw prints and small ornaments. I have a dog in the photo and deer in the banner for an animal. The more I think about it, everything on this layout is more than 1yr. old. I have 5 patterned papers and the green border is my bling.

Supplies
 Prima North Country Paper
Teresa Collins Christmas Banner
Dog themed paper
Paper Studio clear title sticker
Webster's Dazzle Gems Border
Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink
Faber-Castell Gold Gelatos

With this joint challenge, you can submit your layout to both challenge blogs for a chance to win a prize. I hope you can find the inspiration for this challenge.

Prima Make N Takes

If you know me as a scrapbooker, you know that Prima Marketing is my favorite company in this industry. I just love creating pretty layouts & projects! Even though they are known for their handmade beautiful flowers, they have an array of masculine & vintage collections as well. They have also decided to sell some mixed media products more recently.

The time has come for my 1st Prima demo/make n take as a Prima Ambassador. I will be making Purse Fobs at the Onalaska, WI Hobby Lobby on Saturday, October 25th from 11am-2pm. Here is a sample that I made of the Purse Fob.

The Purse Fob is made from their line of Mechanicals by Finnabair. There are 4 different sizes & you get 2 of each size in a package. I cut out the circles from their Stationer's Desk 6x6 paper pad on my cricut to fit inside the mechanicals. The sizes I used were 1 and 2 inches. I then cut apart some Say It In Pearls to embellish the background and to add a little bling to the smaller piece and flower. The tiny flower came from Prima's Wild Flower Pillar Pack. The Pillar Pack has many different shapes, sizes and colors. Even some occasional leaves and butterflies. Each pack is different. I used my own ribbon that I had in my stash to tie to the jump rings so you can hang it on your purse or backpack. I think this project is very versatile though. Some people glue a pin on the back so they can wear it or you can hang it with some sturdy string & put it on your Christmas tree for an ornament.

Supplies
Mechanicals-961091
Stationers Desk 6x6 paper pad-813840
Say It In Pearls Branch Brown-535896
Wildflowers Pillar Pack-529550

I also made a card that I can switch to in case I run out of Mechanicals. I just cut 8.5 x 11 sheet of cardstock in half and it makes 2 cards.

I used a stencil and Old Rose chalk edgers for the background of the card and then stamped the edges with Black Coal . The image in the middle is a journaling notecard but I cut the top and side with some decorative scissors and inked the edges with Rusty Bucket. I also inked the edges of the wood button and the very bottom flower. I used foam dots behind the notecard and the wood button to give some dimension to the card. I once again cut apart some Say It In Pearls and picked out some flowers from the Pillar Pack.

Supplies
Stencil-564278
Cling Mounted Stamps-551056
Divine Journaling Notecard Set-950651
Fairy Rhymes Wood Buttons-565015
Say It In Pearls Branch Brown-535896
Wildflower Pillar Pack-529550
Permanent Chalk Edgers Set-892340

Although some Hobby Lobby stores carry different products, most of these should be found there. My Hobby Lobby stores that I am doing make n takes at dont carry the journaling notecards but have every thing else that I have listed.

Alice In Wonderland

It is that time of the month for a great challenge from Child's Play Challenges. Alice in Wonderland is one of my all time favorites.

I tend to use  photos that go with the challenge most of the time but also use colors in the photos too. I need to try to get my cousins wedding album done soon so I looked through the wedding photos & found these of the wedding party after the wedding. Everyone is sitting around a table drinking just like the photo of Alice in Wonderland.

Supplies
Bazzill, Colorbok Spring Pastel & Coordinations Paper
Prima cardstock Sticker, Hello Pastel Brad & Say It In Crystals
Echo Park Victoria Gardens Element Stickers
Glitter Foam Thickers
Martha Stewart Punches

Hope you can stop by Child's Play Challenges & find some inspiration from Alice.

Jack in the Box

Here we are again at the beginning of another month but now it is officially Fall. It is chilly here this week, only in the 40s this morning.

Childs Play Challenges will now be posting their challenges on the 1st & 15th of the month. So for the 1st challenge of October is inspired by the toy Jack in the Box. I was inspired by the colors of the Jack in the Box & my photos, which you can see the picture at Child's Play Challenges.

I cut out the number 3 from the We R Memory Keepers paper & inked the edges. I sanded the stars on the photo mat paper so they stand out better. I then added the photos & stickers.

Supplies

Jenni Bowlin Core Impressions Coordinations Paper
We R Memory Keepers Funfetti Paper
EK Success Birthday Party Sticker

I hope you can find some inspiration from Jack & join in on the fun!

Scrap Bucket Challenge

I participated in a Scrap Bucket Challenge not too long ago on a scrappin member board. It was copied from Ice Bucket Challenge that was going around on Facebook except people would give you 5 different things you would have to put on your layout. I guess its like a recipe challenge.

I do not make 2 pagers very often but that was one of the things I had to do for the layout so I was able to get more than just 1 layout done. Once again, it is a wedding layout. I feel like I will never get this wedding album done. My cousin probably thinks I forgot all about it.

I had a horrible time trying to take straight pictures of the 2 layouts together. My layouts are not really that crooked.

I had a sketch to use from Pinterest for this layout. My 5 things to use were a 2 pager, 1 word title, stamp, use the color orange & at least 5 buttons. I stamped at the bottom of the page & glued the buttons on top of the image after I tied the string to them.

Supplies

Bazzill cardstock
Prima papers & stamp
SEI wedding kit papers & journal card
TPC Studio flower shaped jewels
KaiserCraft rhinestones
We R Memory Keepers Sew easy fancy floss
Paper Studio alphabet stickers

Keep an eye out for further posts. I will have some fun news to share & some more Child's Play Challenges!

Cat in the Hat

The challenge over at Child's Play Challenges this time is inspired by the book Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss.

I remember my son had one of those tall hats but I could not find a photo of it. As I was looking through photos, I came across quite a few with my son wearing hats. I chose these photos because he was wearing a red, white & blue baseball outfit with a hat. This matches the colors on the front cover of the Cat in the Hat book.

Here is a closeup of the title

I took a small paintbrush & painted modeling paste onto a star stamp. I stamped one on each side of the title. I also used a banner stamp for my sons name, cut each letter out & glued  them to the twine. I used Barn Door & Faded Jeans distress ink on the resist paper that I used for a mat.

Supplies

Pink Paislee Artisan Resist Papers
My Mind's Eye Miss Caroline Twine
Darice Star Gems
EK Success Sticko Phrase Cafe sticker
Inkadinkado Clear Banner Stamp
Queen & Co. Washi Tape
Liquitex Modeling Paste

I hope you can stop by Child's Play Challenges & have some fun with the Cat in the Hat.

Sequins

Here we are in the month of September already. Hopefully the warm weather will stick around for a little while yet. We have one more motorcycle run to go on yet. I just hate to bundle up when riding on the motorcycle.

Sequins are the craft challenge at Child's Play this time. I cant believe with all the bling that I have, I did not have any sequins in my stash. I was able to make a trip to Hobby Lobby & pick some out. With so many colors & shapes, it took me a while to decide what I wanted. I figured I would go with a different shape than just the circle sequins. I dont have a lot of leaves in my stash to go with the wonderful assortment of flowers that I have so thats what I decided to get.

I used the We R Memory Keepers Lucky 8 Punch for the background paper of the photos. The banner & striped flower were from an online swap from some scrapbooking friends. The other 2 flowers are from Prima & I used Cranberry stickles on one of them. Then I added the gem swirl to fill in some space on the bottom. I tucked in the sequin leaves where I thought they looked good.

I hope to see some pretty layouts with the sequins this month. Come join us at Child's Play Challenges & get inspired.

Yabba Dabba Doo

I hope everyone is enjoying the last bit of summer that is left. I am not looking forward to the cold weather that will be here in the next couple of months.

The challenge for Child's Play this time is based off the classic cartoon tv show The Flintstones. This one was very easy for me. I knew the photo I was going to use right away. One of my son's favorite outside toys was his push car. I think just about every child had one of these. I always see them around. This car reminds me of when the Flintstones had to get their car going. They had to use their feet just like my son's car.

I used Scenic Route, Tim Holtz & Coordinations paper for my layout. I distressed the Coordinations paper to  bring the green color through. I cut the corners of the mats to give a more distinctive look. I cut the words apart from the paper & inked them with black soot distress ink. The decorative car brad is from My Mind's Eye & I received the border from a scrapbooking friend.

Hope you can join us at Child's Play Challenges & let the Flintsones inspire you.

Happy Scrappin!

Weebles wobble

How is everyone doing? I am busy busy this summer. Trying to keep up with everything.

The challenge this time at Child's Play is based on the toy Weebles. Do you know the saying for it? Weebles wobble but dont fall down. If you have not heard of them, go to Child's Play Challenges and there is a picture of the toy that you can see.

This is my layout that I made for the challenge. The wobble motion of the Weebles inspired me to use the photos of my son's bouncy chair.

I used some washi tape to make borders around my photos. The embellishments that I used were star stickers from Darice, wood veneers from Studio Calico and a joy brad from Prima. The wood veneers were moistened with embossing ink, sprinkled with white embossing powder and heat set.  I also used a yellow gelato & water to paint the stripes to go to the stars.

Stop over at Child's Play and see if you can get inspired by the Weebles. We would love to see what you come up with.

Cooties

I have been enjoying summer too much & neglecting my blog. I have to get back in to the swing of things pretty soon but if I dont summer will be over before we know it anyway.

This weeks inspiration at Child's Play Challenges is from the game called Cooties. This was a bit of a challenge for me but it came to me when I found these photos of my daughter & son. Little brother always wanted to play with big sister & I think after awhile it did "bug" her. My inspiration came from the form of the Cootie bug.

I was just looking to see what brand the brother paper was & surprisingly it was from N. Mankato, MN. One of those specialty papers that I had bought from Rochester's  VIP store that has closed.

 Supplies

Oh Brother paper-Stemma
Journaling card- We R Memory Keepers Funfetti
Resist Hearts- Heidi Swapp
Sparkle Sticker bug- Studio g
Red Ink- Ranger's Barn Door Distress Ink

I hope you can find more time than me to get creative. Would love to see what you come up with for the Cooties Challenge.

Tie Dye challenge with a sketch

Well, better late than never I guess. I was able to get my layout done for the Tie Dye challenge at Childs Play Challenges but didnt get my blog post done right away. This summer seems to keep getting busier all the time.

The challenge from Child's Play is also combined with sketch #15 from Scrap Our Stash.

I fussy cut  the word tags from a 12x12 paper that is made by We R Memory Keepers & adhered them with glue dots. I cut down my white paper for a mat & water colored the red & yellow borders with gelatos.
I used a little bit of liquid glue to adhere my star rhinestones from Darice.

I hope you can find the time to play along at Childs Play. We LOVE to see what everyone creates!

Etch-A-Sketch Inspired

Well, here I am over a month later. It has been busy around here lately & I have neglected my blog.

We went to Las Vegas at the beginning of the month but I was able to squeeze some time in to make a couple birthday cards & a mothers day card at least. I will share those at a later date. I also have been working overtime at work so I am a little more tired than usual.

This time at Child's Play Challenges our inspiration comes from the classic toy Etch-A-Sketch.
My layout was inspired from the colors of the Etch-A-Sketch. Red, white & black. I thought my photo fit that perfectly.

I used the We R Memory Keepers Lucky 8 Punch for the jagged background paper & a zig zag border punch for the borders beneath the photo. My letters are 2 different kinds of fonts. The red letters are from Pink Paislee & the white ones are DIY Thickers. I pulled off the paper & sprinkled them with white embosssing powder & heat set them.

I hope you can find time this month to play with us & I will try harder not to neglect the blogging world too much. It is getting nicer out finally so that means less time on the computer & more time outside.

Happy Scrappin!

Simon Says

How is everyones week going so far? Mine is better than last week but always looking forward to the weekend.

This week at Child's Play Challenges our inspiration comes from the electronic game, Simon. My inspiration came from the colors on the game itself. I thought the colors of the balls in these photos were perfect for this challenge.

My son always liked to play in the balls at the McDonald's Playland when he was little. When he got a little older, he was able to crawl through the tunnels & go down the slide.

Supplies

Bazzill Cardstock & washi tape
Cosmo Cricket Rub On words
Prima letter stickers
Little Yellow Bicycle canvas banner
My Mind's Eye twine & brad
Recollections Tag

You have until the end of the month to play along with us. Hope you can stop by & check out our challenges.

Spring Blog Hop with SNC

I am happy to be part of the Spring Blog Hop with the Skrap N Chat ladies. I was fortunate to find these wonderful ladies last summer when Club CK decided to close their chat forum. If you got here from Dana's blog, you are in the right place. If not, you might want to go back to the beginning of the blog hop, which is at Karen's blog. The complete list of blogs is at the end of my post.
When I decided to participate in the Spring Blog Hop, I was thinking of creating another wedding layout but when I sat down at my desk I decided I wanted to do a canvas. I like to play with  mixed media & have been wanting to make another canvas creation.

I love flowers & butterflies & all things pretty so I figured this was the perfect opportunity.

Here is a closeup on my cluster of flowers.

Supplies

Prima-Raindrop stencil, flowers, meadowlark wooden ticket, leaves diecut
Heidi Swapp- Butterfly & flower stencil
Websters Pages- Perfect Accent resin embellishment
Recollections- Acrylic flowers

I used Liquitex modeling paste with my stencils. I added gelatos to the modeling paste for the butterflies. I just rubbed some yellow gelato color on the dried modeling paste & used a wet paintbrush to spread it around. The diecut leaves were embossed & cut on a Sizzix machine. I inked the edges with distress ink.

I hope you can find the time to go through the whole blog hop. I know I will be hopping along also. I may even do it more than once & dream about Spring since we may  get up to 7 inches of snow today.

Your next stop on the blog hop is Stacy & here is the complete list of blogs that are participating in the Spring Blog Hop.

Mother Goose Challenge

This weeks challenge at Child's Play Challenges is based off the book of Mother Goose. When I think of nursery rhymes, it reminds me of young children so I decided to create a layout of when my son was in preschool. The teachers also make me think of  Mother Goose.

I went with my son & his preschool class on a field trip to a Buffalo ranch & farm. In the pictures, we are riding on a hay wagon. They had a big field for the buffalo & the other animals were closer to the house. I remember they had goats & chickens.

Supplies:

The Paper Studio- Background Paper, Round Brads
Karen Foster Design- Journal Tags, Field Trip Memories Sticker
Cosmo Cricket- Border Quote
BoBunny- Photo Mats
Me & My Big Ideas- Preschool Sticker, Stars
Little Yellow Bicycle- Chipboard Pennants

Slinky Challenge

Hope everyone is having a good week! I have gotten so off track with my blogging. I have good intentions of doing it every week but it just hasnt happened.

Last week, I started working on a different shift after working 3rd shift for 13 years. Then our pipes decided to freeze. I will just say that last week was a little stressful.

Onto this weeks challenge at Childs Play Challenges. Our inspiration this week is the classic toy, Slinky. I have to admit I was a bit challenged for this one. What I came up with was not what the slinky looks like when playing with it but when it is just sitting there. When its sitting straight up all together, it looks like a big circle.

I got my stencils out & found one with circles. I wanted to use some mixed media on my page so I tried my stencil with modeling paste. The top 2 corners show it best. They have the holes in the middle. That is not easy to do with modeling paste.
Before I tried the modeling paste on the stencil, I added some alcohol ink. On the darker circles, I added some Perfect Pearls powder to it & heat set it.
My bubbles & bath time die cuts were given to me by a scrappy friend that cut them out on her die cut machine.

Supplies

Paper- Scrapbook Customs, Coordinations
Washi Tape- Queen & Co.
Modeling Paste- Liquitex
Sail Boat Blue Alcohol Ink- Ranger Adirondack Brights
Forever Blue Perfect Pearls Powder-  Ranger

I hope you can come up with some creative way to use slinky on your next layout.

2nd page

As I promised, I am posting my 2nd page of my 2 page layout. I do not make many 2 page layouts but I do occassionally.

I will also post some other layouts in a few days. I had the chance to go to a New Years crop about 3 weeks ago, then to a friends for a crop & then last weekend I spent time with some online friends for a crop with challenges. I have been getting quite a few layouts done, for me anyway.

Here is my 2nd page.

I used a mask & blending tool with distress ink for the background. I added some jewels to the center of the flowers. The smaller flowers below the photo were inked with distress ink & stickles.

Supplies:

Prima- Mask, flowers, leaves
Recollections- Adhesive rhinestones, flowers
Ranger- Raspberry Distress Ink, Orange Pell stickles
Sheer Creations- Ribbon
SEI- Paper

Hope everyone has a Great weekend! I will be back with some more this week.
Remember there is still time to do the Glitter Challenge at Childs Play.

Glitter Challenge

Well, I cant believe its already the middle of January. I wanted to be blogging more this year but I am off to a slow start.
My first layout that I have done this year is for this weeks Glitter challenge at Childs Play Challenges. It actually has turned into a 2 page layout. I went to a crop last weekend & was able to get these done.
Today, I will share the main layout that I started with for this weeks challenge.

I started my layout with a Prima mask & Picked Raspberry distress ink for the background frame.
I added 3 jewels to each corner of the frame. I adhered the ribbon with Fabritac glue.

I used orange & diamond stickles on the small butterfly. For the bigger butterfly, I used Picked Raspberry on the edges & used an orange embossing powder on the inside of the wings & heated it up with my heat gun. I then added Picket Fence stickles on top.

The Prima white flower & leaves were already glittered up when I bought them so I thought they would go with the challenge quite well.
The 3 smaller flowers started out just white. I added orange stickles to the middle sized one. The smallest flower has Perfect Pearls powder & Diamond stickles on it. The red flower has red embossing powder & stickles added to it.

Supplies:

SEI Wedding Kit- Paper & butterflies
Sheer Creations- Black Ribbon
Prima- 8x8 mask, Winter Rose Vanilla Ice flower, Vermont Ivory & Spotlight B leaves
