Summer Camp Challenge & LGS

Happy Summer  everyone! It seems like much of the country has been having a heat wave. After having snow in May, then lots of rain, I am ready for some heat. Although I do not sit out in this heat, I do not complain about it. I love summer nights when it only gets down to 70 degrees. I wish we would go camping again.

Speaking of camping. This week is Summer Camp at Scrappin Peeps ProBoards & Club CK. They have challenges all week long. Last year I joined Club CK & ended up winning a prize for one of the challenges. As slow as I am, I will not finish all the challenges so I will do what I can with my peeps  on the ProBoards.

This is the first one that I finished. It is challenge #8- Cooking Camp by Vicki. It is a recipe challenge. The ingredients we were to have on our layout were: 3photos,  photo mats, 3 colors, 3D embellishments, brads or eyelets, ribbon or string & journaling. Then I used the sketch from Ashley Horton at Lets Get Sketchy this week. I ended up turning the sketch so my photos would fit.

Prima                           My Mind's Eye       SEI Wedding Kit
White Flowers                 Brads                 Paper
                                                         Journaling Tag
 Oriental Trading            Pink Cardstock
 Pink Ribbon

  Sheer Creations             Recollections
 Black Ribbon                Black Adhesive Rhinestones
                                Glitter Stickers

I inked the journal tag & the top flower with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink. The second flower was inked with Black Soot Distress ink. The flowers had a wooden button in the middle but I tore them off so I could put my brad there. I very seldom take apart my Prima flowers. I used my paper piercer to make a hole in the center of the flower.
The brads were a light pink so I inked them with Adirondack Raspberry Alcohol Ink using a piece of felt so it matched the ribbon better.

I didnt even notice until now that there is a glare on 1 of my photos. I hate when something like that happens.

Hope everyone has a Great Weekend!
Happy Scrappin!

My 1st Mixed Media Canvas

I was on a scrappin chat forum & a few ladies decided to do a video chat. They wanted to do a canvas project & anybody was invited. I decided this would be fun to try. I had the canvas, gesso, stencils & spray mist to start off with. I was able to get to Hobby Lobby & Michaels before this started so I picked up some modeling paste & gelatos.

I couldnt wait for the day to come so I could create & chat with these ladies that I just met about a month ago. Of course, I had to have problems with my computer. I have always had problems with my flash player & it affects my videos. It wouldnt even install the plug in for the video so I had to use my sons laptop.

I was informed that they had started off  with layering papers & glueing them down with modge podge. I havent used my modge podge for awhile so I couldnt get my lid off. I just used my gel medium instead. After that it was smooth sailing. I tore papers, glued them down. After all the papers were glued down, I started more layering with stamping, misting & stenciling.
I used 2 different Prima stamps on this photo. The top left part is a small flower stamp that I used black archival ink on. The red splotches by the butterfly was stamped using a red gelato & water. The white circles were made with modeling paste & bubble wrap. I added bling to the bottom of the Prima butterflies.
I stamped the banner with black archival ink again but shaded in some of the pennants with a light pink gelato. I applied the gelato right to the image & got my finger slightly wet to spread the color around. The heart was made with a stencil, gelatos, Prima chalk edger & stickles. I applied the pink gelato to my craft mat & sprayed it with water. I then took the paint brush & painted in the heart. I applied the white chalk edger to the inside of the outline of the heart & rubbed it a little with my finger. I then applied the stickles to the inside of  the chalk & took a baby wipe & smudged the stickles a little. I took modeling paste & applied to the wing stencil with my plastic spatula. I sped up the drying process with my heat gun.
On the bottom heart, I stamped a different heart using the gelatos right on the stamp. I need to practice on this a little more because it didnt turn out like I thought it would. I was able to get the outline of the heart so I ended up using pink crackle paint for the inside of the heart. After that dried I used Glitz Grape stickles for the inside outline of the heart. I smudged it with the baby wipe just like the other heart. I used more modeling paste for the wings, more circles & on a stamp. That worked ok but is hard to get off the stamp. My last part was clustering the flowers. I had a hard time with this. I can cluster but I just couldnt find the right combo of flowers. I took the pink gelato & applied it to my craft mat again. I watered it down & then used my fingers to apply it to the middle flower.
This is my first try so I dont think it turned out too bad. I know there is room for improvement but I do like the colors, textures & embellishments. I think this will go up on the wall. Hope you enjoyed!

Happy Scrappin!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

I THOUGHT I WOULD POST TODAY SINCE I WAS DIGGING OUT SOME OLDER SCRAPBOOK PAGES OF 4TH OF JULY.  THESE PHOTOS ARE FROM 2009.
I HAVE ONLY BEEN POSTING BABY PICTURES BECAUSE I HAVE ONLY SCRAPPED UP TO ABOUT 1 YEAR OLD BUT THIS WAS SCRAPPED BECAUSE DAD WANTED SCRAPBOOK PAGES OF SONS FIRST WIN & PUT IT UP IN THE GO KART TRAILER. I WAS OBLIGATED TO GET THIS SCRAPPED RIGHT AWAY.
HERE IS A 2 PAGER OF 4TH OF JULY IN 2009.

I USED THE WRISTBANDS FROM THE PITS AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE WITH HIS NAME IN PLASTIC LETTERS THAT I BOUGHT AT A LSS. I USED SCRAPS FOR THE SUBTITLE & WROTE IT IN SILVER METALLIC PEN. I TORE A PIECE OF CARDSTOCK & INKED THE EDGES RED & USED THE CHECKERED BORDER STICKERS AROUND THE PHOTO. I ALSO USED SOME VELLUM RACING SAYINGS & 4TH OF JULY STICKERS. THE FLAG IS SOMETHING WE HAD BUT DONT REMEMBER WHAT IT CAME FROM.
I USED SOME MORE 4TH OF JULY STICKERS & VELLUM SAYINGS ON THIS PAGE ALSO. I DID THE SAME THING FOR THE MATS OF THE PHOTOS. THE FEATURE WINNER CIRCLE WAS SOMETHING THAT HE RECEIVED WHEN HE WON THE RACE. THE CAR DIE CUT WAS MADE ON MY CRICUT OUT OF COORDINATIONS PAPER THAT I DISTRESSED TO MAKE THE RED SHOW A BIT. HIS COLORS WERE RED & BLACK AS YOU CAN SEE IF YOU LOOK AT THE PHOTOS CLOSE ENOUGH. I ALSO CARVED THE -5 IN THE CAR TO LOOK LIKE HIS GO KART.

HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT HOLIDAY & STAYS SAFE!

Hope you enjoy all my scrappy projects that comes from My Crafty Heart
