Lasting Memories Challenge

Awhile back, I had bookmarked Lasting Memories Scrapbook Challenges site on my computer. I dont remember exactly how I came across this site because I am always looking at scrapbooking sites & blogs. I liked the challenges that they had posted so I thought I would try them out sometime. I was going through my scrappin bookmarks on my computer just recently & saw their challenge. Plus, they are looking for a Guest Design Team member for the month of October. I really liked the challenge & I have been applying for Design Teams here & there.

Their challenge is to use lace, ribbon & pink on your layout. If anyone knows my scrapbooking style, they would figure this was for me. First of all, my favorite color is pink. I don't use a lot of ribbon & lace but I do love to create girly layouts. This also was very fitting for my cousin's wedding album that I have been slowly working on. I thought I would have this layout posted for their challenge & on my blog before now but the sunlight has not been cooperating with me for pictures.

Here are some close ups:     This one is when I misted Glimmer Mist over a Prima Flower Mask.

This is the Prima Canvas Resist butterfly. I inked it with Distress Stain, added some rhinestones & used 3D foam squares to make it look like its flying. Below the butterfly is a 3D sticker & I added the pearl in the center of the flower. To the left is the 6x6 paper by My Mind's Eye that I used the Lucky 8 Mini punch to make a decorative mat for the picture.
For the ribbon flower, I folded pieces of ribbon to the desired length. These ribbon pieces already come with adhesive on the back so I just peeled the paper off the back of the ribbon & stuck the ends together. I cut a circle & glued each ribbon piece to the circle. I had to move the ribbon around a little to make sure the circle wasn't showing. I then added the Prima center piece. The white lace had openings so I took the Glitz trim & weaved it in with the white lace. I glued the lace down with FabriTac. I then added the rhinestones to make it look like it was part of the flower.

Scrapfest Goodies

I am going to share some projects, products & people from Scrapfest this year. The picture below shows the make n take projects that I made & a couple prizes from my classes that I attended during Scrapfest.

Starting in the right hand corner is an envelope made at We R Memory Keepers booth. We used one of  the Lucky 8 punches for the top fold. Added a Halloween tag & secured it with a metal flower & brad. Wrapped some twine around the envelope & flower to keep it closed. To the left is a flower made out of burlap with a button & twine in the middle. That was made at the Maya Road booth. The zipper dragonfly in the left hand corner was also made at Maya Road's booth. The Happy Birthday tag was made at Epiphany Crafts booth. The square epoxy embellishment was made with their tool.

On the left side of the picture shows a package of Bazzill templates for gems. This was a prize that I won at the Bazzill's Christmas Mini Album class. Next to that is a tag that I made at the Prima Booth, which is one of my favorite scrapbooking companies. To the right of the Prima tag is another tag with an envelope. This also has a canvas banner piece & some flower embellishments. This was made at the booth with Tattered Angels, Canvas Home Basics & 7 Gypsies. The 3D flower started out as layered tissue pieces that were punched with a scallop punch. They were then stapled together. You just pleat & scrunch each layer & play with it until you like what it looks like. We then sprayed it with Tattered Angels mist. This was my favorite make n take project. The card to the right of that project was made at the Fancy Pants booth. They showed us how to handcut banners. They had the strips of paper already cut for us. You have to eye up the middle of the strip & cut straight up. Then cut from the bottom corner to the top of the middle straight cut. Then cut from the other corner as well. I had not heard of making them that way. It was not to hard to do though. Then we added lace & a circle punched sentiment. Below the card is the Teresa Collins Xyron sticker maker & a Teresa Collins pencil. These were given to everyone that took her class. Fortunately, I did not own a Xyron before this.

Here are just a few things that I bought at Archivers during Scrapfest. One of the big Lucky 8 punches & one of the little lucky 8 punches. I used my 40% off coupon on the big punch. A 6x6 paper pad by My Mind's Eye, some pink Washi Tape & zipper trim from Maya Road so I can try different projects with it. I bought multiple colors of it. They have tutorials for different projects on Youtube using the zipper trim.

Here is Teresa Collins after I had taken her Christmas Mini Album class.
This is Rebecca & Marion. They are designers & educators of Prima Marketing. They                                 also do tutorials on the Live with Prima show on Thursday nights through Ustream.

It was alot of fun but next year I think I will try out a Creating Keepsakes Convention & see what the difference is.

Have a Great Day!
Happy Scrappin!

September Birthday Cards

Hello everyone! I am back from a fun filled weekend at Scrapfest that took place at Mall of America & put on by Archiver's. This was my 4th year in a row going to Scrapfest. The first 2 years I went with my good scrappin buddy. Last year, I took my niece & my daughter but they just did make n takes. This year, I couldnt find anyone to go with me. Then just a couple weeks before, my  mom said she would come on Saturday & stand in line with me at the make n takes to keep me company. My aunt lives in the area so she also came to visit with us & I treated her to lunch since her birthday was the week before.

Speaking of birthdays. I had made 3 birthday cards the week before Scrapfest. This card was made for my cousin's son. He turned 25. The background paper is from Creative Memories. The chipboard piece was applied with gesso first & then painted with gold paint dabber from Adirondack. I hand wrote Time Flies on the chipboard piece. Kids just seem to grow up so fast these days. That also means that I am getting older though. The clock piece is from Prima & the top number on the clock is 25, although it is hard to see. The Happy Birthday sticker is just from some epoxy birthday stickers from Oriental Trading that I had.
The next 2 cards were belated birthday cards for my aunt & cousin. I dont like to send handmade cards in the mail so I figured I would give them belated cards when I came that way. They are both Pug cards since my cousin grew up with Pugs. This one for my cousin is made with sticky paw prints ribbon from Oriental Trading. The specialty paper that says bark & ruff was bought online in a package of different papers. The bone was fussy cut from paper of dog elements which I also used on the next card.I also inked the edges of the bone. I then stuck a epoxy sticker on the bone. The pug is a sticker from Jolee's Boutique. I just hand cut the oval background out of coordinations paper & distressed it.
The next birthday card was made with almost the same elements. The heart background paper is different. I cut it from a 12x12 sheet. The heart below was cut from the same paper of dog elements. The pug sticker also came from Jolee's Boutique. The cupcake epoxy sticker came from Oriental Trading just the same as the card above. The Happy Birthday sign I made from a white piece of cardstock.I inked the cardstock with Milled Lavendar Distress Stain & Walnut Stain Distress Ink on the edges.  I then punched the corners with Martha Stewart Double Heart punch & applied Spun Sugar stickles & stamped Happy Birthday with My Pink Stamper stamp.

Once I get some pictures taken of my goodies from Scrapfest, I will post them here. Hope everyone had a Great weekend.

Happy Scrappin!

September Events

Here we are with Fall just around the corner. I do not even like thinking that. Summer is my favorite season & I hate to see it go. I did not do much this summer though. I think my September is busier than my whole summer was.

My son started school this week. The day after Labor Day to be exact. We did some school clothes shopping last weekend. Already had his school supplies at school. We took them when we went to the Open House. This year the school is offering elective classes & are asking people from the community to come in & teach something that they have knowledge in. I signed up for teaching a Scrapbooking class. I hope some students are interested & I am able to do it. It would be quite an experience for me.

This weekend we will be going to an outdoor concert about 3 hours away. It should be a good time even though the temperatures are starting to drop a little. It looks like there shouldnt be any rain during the concert according to the forecast for the weekend.

Next week, I will only have to work 4 days because I took Friday off. I will be going to Scrapfest at Mall Of America. Cant wait for a whole scrappy weekend. I will also be able to visit with family during the weekend. I am also meeting my Canadian friend & her mom for supper. I started chatting with her on Live with Prima shows that are online. I met up with both of them last year at Scrapfest. I am hoping also to meet Marion  & Rebecca that are suppose to be at the Prima booth for Scrapfest. The last 2 years, I was able to get pictures taken with scrapbook celebrities such as Tim Holtz & Mario, Claudine Hellmuth, Julie McGuffee, Margie Romney-Aslett.

This was before Tims class that I took
This picture was taken after Claudine's class. Mario was helping her.
This was after Claudine's class that  I took.
Julie was at a Make n Take booth. She is a hostess on a TV show called Scrapbook Memories. Now changed to Scrapbook Soup.
Margie was helping at Bazzill's Make n Take booth but I am taking a class that she is teaching this year.

This year I am taking a Layout class from We R Memory Keepers, a Christmas mini album class from Bazzill, Christmas mini album class with Teresa Collins & a mini album class from Maya Road. I will post some pictures from my classes when I get back.

I am also hoping to do some online challenges from Big Picture Classes. I have registered for it & it was free. Each day a different person posts a challenge. I do hope I get some done.

Well, that is part of my September events. I have a couple of other things happening towards the end of the month but will wait to post about those another time.

Have a Great weekend
Happy Scrappin!

Happy Labor Day

I did not get a chance to post on Friday, like I usually like to do. I had to take a nap after work so I had some rest for a LSS crop that day. I had to take my boyfriends Suburban to the crop because I had purchased one of their shelf cabinets. That is one of many things that I purchased from there. They closed for good on Saturday September 1st. Friday was their last crop. It was a little sad as I saw one of the ladies that worked there crying & went into the back room with the owner. I had not been there real often because I lived almost an hour away but it was my favorite LSS. The LSS in our town closed last summer & I miss it there also. All the ladies, at this LSS that just closed, were always so cheerful & nice. This is the store that had the bus trip that I went on last November. The whole VIP scrappin experience will be missed.

On a happier note, they did have some good sales going on. I stocked up on Distress inks, stickles, stains. Bought some TH alteration items & a configurations tray. They had a tote special. Fill up their totebag of 24 sheets of cardstock & coordinations paper for $10. I bought on that sale 2 different times. Some Basic Grey & BoBunny papers too. I also bought some BoBunny & Little Yellow Bicycle embellishments.  I had bought a shirt the first week but I also won another shirt when they gave away prizes towards the end of the crop.
Here are some pictures of my scrappin goodies that I bought.
This 2nd picture is of the cabinet from the LSS that just closed but to the left of that are wooden slats with paper trays & hooks. Those items came from the LSS that closed in my town last year. So, I have started a collection from the LSS that have closed in my area.

I also got a picture with the owner & another lady that worked there, which I also did at my LSS.  I am sure to be scrappin these 2 LSS  sometime. Not sure when I will get to that as it seems that I am never going to finish my 2 wedding albums that I am working on. LOL.
There was a funny thing that happened at the LSS. The owner was telling me, while I was looking around, that I have a look alike. She is another customer & she gets us mixed up. I have never met the lady but the owner was telling me about a time when she called this lady by my name. There was a lady standing about 5ft. behind me when the owner was telling me this & she says that was me. The owner never even saw her standing there. One of those things when you had to be there. Everyone got a chuckle out of it. So, I did get to meet my look alike the very last day I was there.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Labor Day weekend.
Happy Scrappin!

Hope you enjoy all my scrappy projects that comes from My Crafty Heart
