1st & 2nd Christmas

The last couple of weeks seem to have gotten away from me. Ever since my birthday, I havent found the time to sit & scrap. I am back now & hopefully will be able to do this again week after week.
This layout has been created from the sketch & color combo at Lets Get Sketchy. I also incorporated some scraps in my layout for at About a Boy.

Supplies:
White & Red Cardstock
Teresa Collins Christmas Cottage Patterned Paper
Prima North Country Patterned Paper
BoBunny Noteworthy Noel Journal Page
Studio Calico Huey's Chevron Mask
DIY white foam Thickers
Oriental Trading Candy Cane seasonal stickers
Imaginisce Studded Ornament Sticker
American Crafts Flair Badge
Teresa Collins Christmas Cottage Chipboard Element No. 1
Red & White Twine
Heidi Swapp Mint Green Color Shine Iridescent Spritz
Ranger Rich Red Embossing Powder
Adirondack Lettuce Embossing Powder
Stamp-N Stuff Vertigre Embossing Powder
Tim Holtz Barn Door & Picket Fence Distress Markers
EK Success Border Punch
Ek Success 2" Scallop Punch

The chevron mask is smaller so I had to line it up & spray it 2 times to get the coverage on the cardstock that I got.
I peeled off the backing on the Thickers & added the different glitters to each letter. I poured the glitter over the letters in my glitter tray so I wouldnt make such a mess. It still gets messy. I forgot about that since I havent used my glitter for awhile.
I cut off a piece of a glue dot & added it to the middle of the bow that I made from the twine. Then added the bow to the ornament.
I cut my green border  big enough for the red piece to go on top of it & then punched my border. I adhered my red border on top of the green piece & added my embellishements. I wrote the number 16 on the green chipboard piece with my distress marker. Skyler was only 16 days old in the photo on the left.
My 2" scalloped punch was just the right size to punch around the design of Prima's patterned paper. I then adhered the Happy Holidays layered sticker.

Have a Happy Easter for those who celebrate!

The Big 4-0!

I am wishing everyone a Happy St. Patrick's Day. I have a little bit of Irish in me but normally dont go out & celebrate.
Last night I was celebrating something else. My wonderful mother & boyfriend put together a 40th Birthday party for me. It was a fun time to get together with family & friends. There were 2 family members who werent there & they are very close to me. My daughter was unable to get off work all week for my birthday. She did show up after work, at my house to visit for awhile.
My dear aunt came to town on Thursday, my actual birthday, to surprise me. She lives 2 hours away form us. Within the hour of being here, she slipped on the ice & broke her ankle. She was in the hospital until today. She was hoping to come to the party but they said she had to stay until Sunday. I felt so sorry for her. We all missed them at the celebration.
With all the commotion of my aunt getting hurt, I was not able to find time to do a layout for Lets Get Sketchy this week. I spent most of my time Thursday & Friday at the hospital. On Saturday, I had to get  ready for the party.

My mom & I posing for pictures.

My dad & I.
Dan & I.

This picture of me is goofy. As you can see in the 2nd photo, I have my eyes almost closed. I always tend to squint or smile too much & my eyes end up like that in the pictures. This last photo I was trying to keep my eyes open so I wasnt smiling so much. LOL.
I will try to get back into the groove of things & start creating this week.

Animal Layout

At Scrap Your Story you are suppose to make a layout featuring animals. I have not started my doggie album yet so I was going to do that. Then I came across these photos & I thought I probably shouldnt start another album with all the half finished albums I have going on right now. This layout is when they had some festivities going on at the levee.

As you can see, they had some sheep, horses & wagon rides. My daughter always loved horses. I had wished we would've had enough money to be able to buy her a horse. She would have loved that.

The letters at the top that spell her name are black individual brads that I bought at our LSS. The 4-legged friend title is a clear sticker that I added to cardstock.  I cut out the grass on the bottom with my Cricut & added the horse, sheep & petting zoo stickers.

Sketch plus Color

Happy Saturday everyone! I just hate it when I get so behind. I usually save Fridays for making layouts but yesterday I had a chiropractic appointment & I had to rest after that. My layout for Lets Get Sketchy was made late last night. I had to wait until today to take a picture of it & its cloudy today. We are suppose to get freezing rain. Looks like I will be hibernating in my scrap room today.  Here is the sketch & plus they put a color combo with it this time round.

Here is my layout.
Supplies:

White, Green & Red Cardstock
Christmas Paper & small red flowers from swap
Basic Grey-Paper & fabric Christmas circles
Little Yellow Bicycle- Round chipboard elements
Pink Paislee- Artisan Elements border
Recollections- Green & Gold Brad
Bazzill- Red jewels & green leaves
Teresa Collins- Christmas Home & Christmas Cottage flowers, borders & journaling circle
Me & My Big Ideas- Green icons
My Mind's Eye- Decorative Brad
Tim Holtz- Walnut Stain Distress Ink
Adirondack- Gold Acrylic Paint Dabber

I used the MME brad to hold the layers of flowers together & glued the leaves underneath. I applied the jewels to the center of the other flowers.

I painted the edges of the red cardstock, the points on the journaling circle, the snowflake border & the element to the left of the photo with a paintbrush & the gold paint.

I tried to use the dabber like it is suppose
be used on the snowflake border but I
had a problem. Picture below.
I think the top was clogged & it just spurted out
around the rim so I had to use it up somehow.

Have a Great rest of the weekend!
Happy Scrappin!

New Challenge Blog

Today I am posting about a new challenge blog. This week's challenge was so easy that I decided to squeeze it in with my weekly challenge for Lets Get Sketchy. I will be making 2 separate layouts for these challenges this week.
The new challenge blog is called Scrap Your Story. This week's challenge was to use 1 photo on your layout. I did wander over to my Favorite Sketches board on Pinterest for some inspiration. Here is the sketch that I picked out for this challenge. It is a sketch from Prima's Build a Page in May of 2010.2010May_buildapage- Prima
Here is my take on the sketch
 Supplies:

Peach, coral & white cardstock
Prima- Flowers(Cartier Driftwood, Overture B, Sherwood Rose Ember, Fairytale Roses French White), Say It In Crystals Borders, Firefly Alphabet Stickers
Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink
Martha Stewart Doily Punch
We R Memory Keepers Lucky 8 Floral Burst Punch

This photo was just taken this last September at Scrapfest. I took Teresa Collins Christmas Mini Album class. She was kind enough to take photos with anyone that asked her to. I am using her mini for my December Daily which I still have to finish. LOL.
Hope you have a Great rest of the week!
Happy Scrappin!

Triple Whammy

I mean that in a good sense. My layout today will be posted at Lets Get Sketchy, About a Boy & for a challenge at Club CK.
First of all. I want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to LETS GET SKETCHY! They have a Birthday Bash Hop going on this weekend & will be giving away prizes all month. Stop over & check them out.
I used the sketch at LGS & todays challenge, Hoarders, at About a Boy. I used my older LYB products from Head of Class. The products that I used are from their class at Scrapfest a couple years ago.
The challenge at Club CK is to use shapes on your layout. The women who put on this challenge only used 1 kind of shape, I believe. I have more than 1. Can you guess how many? Here is the sketch & my take on it.

 Supplies:

Blue, Yellow & Red Cardstock
Little Yellow Bicycle's Head of the Class Canvas Sticker Borders, Fabric Favorites & Tag
My Mind's Eye Decorative Brads & Twine
Fabric Flower from a swap
Prima Wooden Button
Oriental Trading Stamp
Recollections Pearl Stickers
We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Fancy Floss

I used 3D foam squares behind the stars, banner, pinwheel & number border. I made a pinwheel out of coordinations paper. The black side is distressed to show some more of the red. I used my 2" scallop punch for the background of my pinwheel & inked the edges. I put twine through the button holes & tied them. I then glued them down with 3-in-1 liquid glue. My journaling was done on a journaling tag but I cut it down & inked the edges.

Have a Great Weekend!
Happy Scrappin!
