Anything Goes

Hello everyone! Hope you are enjoying your week so far. Here in Minnesota, I am enjoying the August weather. Just glad that I dont have to work without air conditioning.

Today's layout was created for 2 challenges. At Scrappin Peeps forum board, we had an  Ugly Paper challenge. We picked out 1 piece of 12x12 ugly paper & cut it up into  4x6 pieces. We then sent it to the host & she mixed them up & sent them back. The other challenge is for About a Boy. Their challenge is Anything Goes. As long as you have a male gender in your photo.

The photo in my layout is of my kids sitting on grandma's deck. They both seem to have cheesy smiles in this photo even though my son is usually the one giving them whenever I take his picture.

I used KI Memories Citrus calendar paper for the background. I originally was going to use this for a Halloween layout but it worked well for this too. I punched out my squares with what I thought was a 2" square punch but when I measured them, they were barely 1.5 inches. I used all 6 pieces of ugly paper for the square border around the photo. I adhered them to a piece of white cardstock after lining everything up like I wanted it.

The green embossed & inked leaves are from the Prima Sweet Retreat that I went to in June. The burnt orange leaves I had in my stash. I am guessing some I received from a peep. The letters are 2 different type of white Thickers. I added Kiwi Perfect Pearls powder to the word Cheesy & Forever Green Perfect Pearls powder to the word Smiles.

Have a Great rest of the week!

Midwest Meet Up

Hello everyone! Hope you enjoyed your weekend. I had an extra long weekend. I took off work Thursday night & Sunday night.

A friend & I traveled to Portage WI on Friday. We were to meet up with some of my online friends at a Retreat house. We arrived Friday early afternoon & stayed until Sunday morning.

I have been talking with these ladies online for almost 2 years now. When we first started talking about doing this, we had more people that wanted to come. People's lives get busy, its summer & things come up so we ended up with only 5 of us. We had fun though.

Here are some pictures of what the crafty basement looked like with all our supplies laid out.

This is our lovely group that were able to finally meet in real life. The photo was taken by the owner of the house. He was a very nice guy. I was glad to have met him.

My friend & I decided to go into town on Saturday & do a little sight seeing. As we were told that the retreat was out in Amish country. We did see some buggy & horses. We also went to an Amish Bakery. I loved their Red Raspberry turnover pie. I also bought some banana nut bread which is pretty good too.

We took some pictures of a park in town. The rock wall with the gate was a nice attraction for the park. Love the big willow trees behind it. It had a couple  bridges over the small ponds. A boy & his grandma were there fishing. There were also some arbors set up in one area for a wedding. They had all the chairs set up but no one was there yet.

I cant wait to meet up with these ladies again next year. Maybe we will be able to meet some more of our online friends.

DT Layout for Child's Play

Todays layout is my 1st DT layout for Child's Play Challenges. I received a message last week asking me to be on their Design Team & I happily accepted.  This is my first time on a Design Team & am so excited to participate!

At Child's Play their challenges are based off toys, movies, games. This week's challenge is based off a story book. You can make your layout based on any shape, color etc. of these images from the book.

I thought of fish right away when thinking of what a bear would see. Bears like to hunt for fish. I found a couple of photos of my son's fishing trips at Lake Michigan. His first trip we took as a family vacation & he just  fished off the cement wall with his dad & grandpa. My son was the only one to catch anything & it was  just a little bitty fish that they called a Goby.

On his 2nd fishing trip, a bunch of grandpas relatives went out on a charter boat for salmon fishing. I think just about everyone caught something but my son's fish was not the biggest. He was one of the lucky ones not to get motion sickness anyway.
Here is the layout.

I received the background paper from a scrappin friend, Robyn. The vellum lake sentiment is from a kit I won at a LSS.
I fussy cut the geese stickers & made them 3D with a foam square. I inked the edges of the fish frame with Prima Shabby Tote chalk ink & put foam squares under it also.
The scallop chipboard border was painted with gesso, Rangers Salty Ocean Distress Ink & Clear Rock C;andy Distress Crackle Paint. I added real fishing line to make the photos look like they are hanging & I added Diamond Stickles so you can see the string better.  I then sprayed a Studio Calico Huey's Mask on the bottom borders of the background paper with Tattered Angels Electric Blue Glimmer Mist & added the fish.

Here is a closeup

I hope you can stop by Child's Play & make something with this weeks challenge.

Preschool Pictures

I guess I am making up for not blogging for 3 weeks. I also have made 2 layouts in the last few days.

Today I am going to share a layout that I made for About a Boy challenge. The challenge is to make a layout with a school age photo.

I chose my sons preschool pictures for this challenge. He went to preschool for 2 years. The photo on the left is when he was 3 years old & the photo on the right is when he was 4 years old.

The background paper is from a paper pad called School Days from Paper Studio. The PreSchool sticker was added to black cardstock & is from Scrappin Sports & More. I cut the A B C paper from Scenic Route Paper Co. by the squares they were sectioned in. I punched out 2- 2" scalloped circles & inked them with Rangers Squeezed Lemonade & Black Soot Distress Ink. On the left scallop, I punched out a 1" circle & inked a Huey's Mask with Rangers Barn Door Distress Ink. I then poked the apple brad from Paper Studio through the middle. The cool kid & star embellishment is from Little Yellow Bicycle. I made a banner from the blue striped Washi Tape that is from Queen & Co. & placed at the bottom of the star. I then added Diamond Stickles to the Washi Tape.

Stop back tomorrow to check out my DT layout for another challenge site.

Exciting DT News

Hello Everyone! I cannot believe that I have not blogged for over 3 weeks now.

Needless to say, I did not get any more Camp challenges done. I had a few picked out & I did the recipe challenge but I think my mojo went on summer vacation after that. I have something that should get my mojo going again.

I was asked to be on a Design Team. I was so surprised & excited when I received the message. I have applied for different design teams off & on. I have been a Guest Designer once but that is it. I cant wait to get started.

Actually, I did get started but I cannot share my layout until Wednesday. That is when I debut for the Design Team. I thought I would share my good news since I have not posted for awhile & let you know ahead of time what is going on.

I can share some old family photos with you though. My grandma had me scan these photos that she had of my grandpa & his family. I then emailed them to grandpas nephew that lives out of state. We were fortunate to have him & his wife visit this summer. This was my first time meeting him. We also went to the family reunion on Saturday. I was able to get some other cousins email to see if we can get more info on the family.

This would be a photo of my Great Great Grandparents. He was a dentist in our town & I found out Saturday some of his tools are in our Historical Museum.

This photo is of my grandpa, who is the smallest, with his siblings & their grandpa. My grandpa is the only one alive today.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Remember to stop back on Wednesday to see my latest layout & find out who I will be designing for.
Happy Scrappin!
