December Blog Hop

Happy December everyone! I cant believe it is already here. Another thing that is already here is  "My Favorite Things" Blog Hop at Child's Play Challenges.

If you didnt start at Child's Play Challenges, you will want to go there first to start the blog hop. If you came here after visiting Adele, you are at the right place.

So, here's the drill...
1. Visit each blog along the hop and leave a comment so we know you were there
2. Come back to Child's Play Challenges when you are done and tell us that you completed the hop
3. Create a LO based on a favorite play thing (include a photo of it if you can or tell us what it is) and link up to our special "blog hop" linky
4. Very important!...become a follower of Child's Play Challenges
5. If you are on Facebook, like our page  https://www.facebook.com/childsplaychallenge

You have until December 24th to complete the hop and enter your LO for a chance to win!  We will announce a winner before the new year.

I will also be giving away a prize to a fellow U.S. scrapper. All you have to do is become a follower or let me know that you are already a follower of my blog & leave a comment.

My layout is for My Son's Favorite Thing. His Big Wheel. He loved Big Wheels so much that he had 3 of them by the time he outgrew them. His Grandma would buy them at Rummage Sales & he could care less that they werent brand new.

I decided for the blog hop that I would do a mixed media page. I do like to dabble with stencils, gesso, gelatos & inks.

I brushed gesso with a foam brush onto the background paper. Black Soot Distress Ink & a chevron mask was also used on the background paper. I colored the Prima heart gears with a Red Gelato & Black Soot Distress Ink. Cranberry,Black Diamond & Yellow Stickles were used on the DIY Thickers. I also used a Heidi Swapp stencil for the green dots which were made from Tim Holtz crackle paint. I colored the Heidi Swapp heart embellishments with Barn Door Distress Stain. The yellow corners were made with part of a stencil & yellow pastel studio acrylic paint by Claudine Hellmuth.

Thanks for hopping with us at Child's Play Challenges. Doreen is your next stop.

  5. Sweet story! My boys never had the actual Big Wheel. They had a motorized Jeep that they loved though! I admire your bravery in diving into mixed media...something I just have no confidence (so no desire) to achieve!

  7. I remember fondly riding my Smurf big wheel until I had run part of the wheel flat. I love how you mimicked the tread of the tires on the background and all the mixed media. Nice job!

  11. Big wheel, oh that brings back memories. Against my mothers wishes my brother and I took it out and used it as a sled on an icy hill. Both of us flew off and I chipped my tooth. Needless to say we were both in trouble when mom got home and the babysitter never got hired again.Big wheel big memories! Love the track marks on the LO.
