My 1st Mixed Media Canvas

I was on a scrappin chat forum & a few ladies decided to do a video chat. They wanted to do a canvas project & anybody was invited. I decided this would be fun to try. I had the canvas, gesso, stencils & spray mist to start off with. I was able to get to Hobby Lobby & Michaels before this started so I picked up some modeling paste & gelatos.

I couldnt wait for the day to come so I could create & chat with these ladies that I just met about a month ago. Of course, I had to have problems with my computer. I have always had problems with my flash player & it affects my videos. It wouldnt even install the plug in for the video so I had to use my sons laptop.

I was informed that they had started off  with layering papers & glueing them down with modge podge. I havent used my modge podge for awhile so I couldnt get my lid off. I just used my gel medium instead. After that it was smooth sailing. I tore papers, glued them down. After all the papers were glued down, I started more layering with stamping, misting & stenciling.
I used 2 different Prima stamps on this photo. The top left part is a small flower stamp that I used black archival ink on. The red splotches by the butterfly was stamped using a red gelato & water. The white circles were made with modeling paste & bubble wrap. I added bling to the bottom of the Prima butterflies.
I stamped the banner with black archival ink again but shaded in some of the pennants with a light pink gelato. I applied the gelato right to the image & got my finger slightly wet to spread the color around. The heart was made with a stencil, gelatos, Prima chalk edger & stickles. I applied the pink gelato to my craft mat & sprayed it with water. I then took the paint brush & painted in the heart. I applied the white chalk edger to the inside of the outline of the heart & rubbed it a little with my finger. I then applied the stickles to the inside of  the chalk & took a baby wipe & smudged the stickles a little. I took modeling paste & applied to the wing stencil with my plastic spatula. I sped up the drying process with my heat gun.
On the bottom heart, I stamped a different heart using the gelatos right on the stamp. I need to practice on this a little more because it didnt turn out like I thought it would. I was able to get the outline of the heart so I ended up using pink crackle paint for the inside of the heart. After that dried I used Glitz Grape stickles for the inside outline of the heart. I smudged it with the baby wipe just like the other heart. I used more modeling paste for the wings, more circles & on a stamp. That worked ok but is hard to get off the stamp. My last part was clustering the flowers. I had a hard time with this. I can cluster but I just couldnt find the right combo of flowers. I took the pink gelato & applied it to my craft mat again. I watered it down & then used my fingers to apply it to the middle flower.
This is my first try so I dont think it turned out too bad. I know there is room for improvement but I do like the colors, textures & embellishments. I think this will go up on the wall. Hope you enjoyed!

Happy Scrappin!
