2nd page

As I promised, I am posting my 2nd page of my 2 page layout. I do not make many 2 page layouts but I do occassionally.

I will also post some other layouts in a few days. I had the chance to go to a New Years crop about 3 weeks ago, then to a friends for a crop & then last weekend I spent time with some online friends for a crop with challenges. I have been getting quite a few layouts done, for me anyway.

Here is my 2nd page.

I used a mask & blending tool with distress ink for the background. I added some jewels to the center of the flowers. The smaller flowers below the photo were inked with distress ink & stickles.

Supplies:

Prima- Mask, flowers, leaves
Recollections- Adhesive rhinestones, flowers
Ranger- Raspberry Distress Ink, Orange Pell stickles
Sheer Creations- Ribbon
SEI- Paper

Hope everyone has a Great weekend! I will be back with some more this week.
Remember there is still time to do the Glitter Challenge at Childs Play.

Glitter Challenge

Well, I cant believe its already the middle of January. I wanted to be blogging more this year but I am off to a slow start.
My first layout that I have done this year is for this weeks Glitter challenge at Childs Play Challenges. It actually has turned into a 2 page layout. I went to a crop last weekend & was able to get these done.
Today, I will share the main layout that I started with for this weeks challenge.

I started my layout with a Prima mask & Picked Raspberry distress ink for the background frame.
I added 3 jewels to each corner of the frame. I adhered the ribbon with Fabritac glue.

I used orange & diamond stickles on the small butterfly. For the bigger butterfly, I used Picked Raspberry on the edges & used an orange embossing powder on the inside of the wings & heated it up with my heat gun. I then added Picket Fence stickles on top.

The Prima white flower & leaves were already glittered up when I bought them so I thought they would go with the challenge quite well.
The 3 smaller flowers started out just white. I added orange stickles to the middle sized one. The smallest flower has Perfect Pearls powder & Diamond stickles on it. The red flower has red embossing powder & stickles added to it.

Supplies:

SEI Wedding Kit- Paper & butterflies
Sheer Creations- Black Ribbon
Prima- 8x8 mask, Winter Rose Vanilla Ice flower, Vermont Ivory & Spotlight B leaves
Paper Studio- White 3D Paper Flowers
Recollections- Adhesive Rhinestones
Ranger- Orange Peel, Diamond & Picket Fence stickles, Rich Red embossing powder, Terra Cotta Antiquities embossing powder, Pink Gumball Perfect Pearls powder

I cant wait to see what everyone makes with glitter. It is one of my faves to use on projects.
Stop back soon & check out part 2 of this layout.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone! I have been waiting for the new year to begin for a couple months now. I am hoping that it is a happier year for us.

I have a couple things to share with you. First of all, I want to announce that Moongirl is my winner from My Favorite Things Blog Hop. You can email me your mailing address at hmmdes@hotmail.com so I can send you a prize.

Second of all, I wanted to share some of my past favorite layouts. They will be more recent layouts since I had computer problems this year & lost some of my pictures. So here are a few of my favorites in no particular order.

I was able to get my photo taken with Claudine Hellmuth & Mario Rossi at Scrapfest. Always had fun there.

Blues Clues was one of our favorite cartoons when my son was little. He also enjoyed their toys.

This is one of my recent layouts that I made for my cousins wedding album. I do not really do New Years resolutions but this is a goal for me to finish her album as soon as I can. I have been working on it for too long.

Hope everyone has a safe & Great New Year!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you are enjoying the holidays with family & friends & good times.

I wanted to share a Christmas gift that I made for my mom this year. This was a special gift just for her.

When my boyfriends mother passed away last month from Lung Cancer, my mom took it hard. When we were going through photos for the collage to put up at the funeral, I found a picture that inspired me to make this gift.

I had the photo enlarged & mounted. I decided to put it in a shadow box & decorate it. My boyfriend helped me out with some ideas. His mom collected Boyds Bears & had them all over the house. There were resin figurines, stuffed animals & lapel pins. I picked out 2 small resin Boyds Bears & put them in the shadow box.

The title, purple flowers & cheerleader bear were put in the shadow box for a special reason. There is a story behind them.
The purple flowers were from my boyfriends mom's funeral. I let them dry out & then sprayed them with hairspray to help hold them together. They were still pretty fragile though. I glued them down with Fabritac. That was the hardest part of putting the shadow box together. The title started out because the 2 women are my sons grandmas but also then remembered my son bowled in a team tournament & they called themselves The Grandmas. Of course, his 2 grandmas were there to cheer him on. Hence, the cheerleader bear & also when he wasnt doing so good with bowling, they would threaten to bring pom poms to cheer him on.

I glued Prima resin corners & butterflies in the shadow box. I added stickles to the butterflies to lighten it up a bit. The picture of the shadow box didnt turn out real well since we have had winter gloomy days.

I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas & share this special Christmas gift.

My layout is for My Son's Favorite Thing. His Big Wheel. He loved Big Wheels so much that he had 3 of them by the time he outgrew them. His Grandma would buy them at Rummage Sales & he could care less that they werent brand new.

I decided for the blog hop that I would do a mixed media page. I do like to dabble with stencils, gesso, gelatos & inks.

I brushed gesso with a foam brush onto the background paper. Black Soot Distress Ink & a chevron mask was also used on the background paper. I colored the Prima heart gears with a Red Gelato & Black Soot Distress Ink. Cranberry,Black Diamond & Yellow Stickles were used on the DIY Thickers. I also used a Heidi Swapp stencil for the green dots which were made from Tim Holtz crackle paint. I colored the Heidi Swapp heart embellishments with Barn Door Distress Stain. The yellow corners were made with part of a stencil & yellow pastel studio acrylic paint by Claudine Hellmuth.

Thanks for hopping with us at Child's Play Challenges. Doreen is your next stop.

Curious George

This week's challenge at Child's Play Challenges is based off the book Curious George.

I knew right away what photos I was going to use. I think these are the only photos that I have with a monkey. You cant see the monkey too well in the photos except for his tail. It is a monkey pillow that my son is laying on. It was almost as tall as him at that time. He would never lay down for a nap, he would just crash where ever he was when he couldnt hold his eyes open anymore.

The background paper that I used is Core'dinations Maplenut paper. It is paper that is brown on one side & yellow on the other side. I used my Prima Distress Tool that was designed by Ingvild Bolme to bring the yellow out on the edges of the brown side. I love Core'dinations two toned paper. They have so many different colors to pick from. The big yellow stars were made with gelatos & a stencil.

I used my Mini 8 Punch for the mats of my photos. The scroll design made me think of the monkey's tail. The title, sheep & Baby Boy border came from Kelly Jean, one of my scrappin peeps.

Supplies:
Core'dinations Maplenut Paper
Bazill Blue Cardstock
Junkitz School Days Additionz yellow paper

Creative Memories Star Stickers
Heidi Swapp Star Stencil

Faber-Castell Lemon Gelato

Prima Distress Tool

We R Memory Keepers Mini 8 Punch

Hope you can play along with us at Child's Play Challenges this month!

Crafty Challenge

Happy Wednesday Everyone! This week's challenge at Child's Play Challenges is a crafting challenge. I am sure most of us have seen some kind of bead of some sort. Here is the challenge.
Here is my layout that I made from the inspiration of the letter beads & colored string. I bought the letter charms at a rummage sale but didnt know what to use them for. I knew I would find a purpose for them someday. I inked my resist paper for a background for the photos. I used a stencil for the circles in the corners. I knew the metal crown would be perfect for Mario since he is the King of helpers in the Scrapbook industry. At least, I think so. I was attending Claudine Hellmuth's mixed media class at Scrapfest & she was lucky enough to have Mario help her out for her classes.

It was a dark, gloomy day when I took a picture of my layout so here are some close ups.
I have more journaling on the butterfly card that is peeking out from the resist paper & the gem is holding it in place.

Supplies

My Mind's Eye-Stella & Rose Memories Woven Paper, Miss Caroline twine
Prima- IOD Everyday Vintage flair buttons, Fairy Rhymes Journaling Notecard Set
American Crafts- Dear Lizzy adhesive flair badge
Tim Holtz- Gem Clip, Idea-ology metal crown
Making Memories- charm letter wraps
Pink Paislee- Artisan Papers
Heidi Swapp- Spray Stencil
Ranger- Walnut Stain & Black Soot Distress Ink, Studio Painterly Pink acrylic paint
Faber-Castell- Red Cherry & Guava Gelatos
Liquitex- Modeling Paste

When I first started with the Gelatos, I rubbed them on my craft mat & then misted them a little. I used a small paintbrush to color the resist paper. I wanted a brighter color so I started rubbing the gelatos on the paper & then took my wet paintbrush to spread the color. I just used a foam brush for the stenciling with the modeling paste.

I hope you can join us again at Child's Play Challenges. I like to see what everyone comes up with for each challenge.

Happy Scrappin!

Hope you enjoy all my scrappy projects that comes from My Crafty Heart
